Mathew Cowdrey accepting his gold medal.
Olympic and Commonwealth Games gold medallist, and current S9 world record holder, Matthew Cowdrey of Australia has continued his dominance in the pool by winning the 100m Elite Athletes with a Disability (EAD) Freestyle with a record breaking performance.
Cowdrey won in a time of 56.73 seconds, 1.2 seconds faster than the previous world record.
"I'm very excited, that was the best race I have swum this week. To go out there in 27.44 is a really good split for me," said Cowdrey afterwards.
"It was a huge personal best and I'm really ecstatic with the actual technique and outcome of the race."
Cowdrey had previously taken gold in another record-breaking performance in the 50m EAD Freestyle on Day 3.
Silver medallist in the 50m EAD Freestyle, Benoit Huot of Canada, again took silver in the 100m, with David Roberts from Wales taking bronze.
