After 10 days of throwing leather at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, eleven boxers will be competing for their golden reward.
For Australia, their chances rest with Brad “Hollywood’ Pitt in the 91kg Heavyweight division, who has been convincing with his hard punching and clever defence throughout the Games. The final will be Pitt’s toughest challenge, coming up against Harpreet Singh of India.
Australian Jarrod Fletcher will compete in the 75kg Middleweight division and will fight Canadian Adonis Stevenson, and will need to reproduce his best form to ensure he stands on the upper dais at the medal ceremony.
In the Welterweight (69kg) division, India’s Vijender will be ready for South African Bongani Mwelase in their battle for gold.
Yet another Indian fighter will start his bout as slight favourite, Akhil Kumar against Mauritian Louis Richard in the Bantamweight (54kg) division.
Hard-hitting Scotsman, Kenneth Anderson, with two knockouts under his belt will be an aggressive contender in his weight division of 81kg Light Heavyweight against Nigeria’s Adura Olalehin.
In the Flyweight (51kg) division the battles commence at 3:00pm with England’s Don Broadhurst attempting to win the first gold on offer against South Africa’s Jackson Van Tonder.
