A silver in Manchester cost the former Scot the chance to make Games history by becoming the first athlete to defend his gold medal for a different country. Since ‘defecting’ to England in 2001, he has gone on to become one of his adopted country’s most successful squash players and will be tough to beat in Melbourne.
